About Porch Swing
MEET YOUR THERAPIST
I’m Rebecca, and I’ve worked in the mental health field for more than 20 years across a variety of clinical settings and with people facing many different seasons of life.
Today, my practice focuses on OCD, anxiety, and trauma—especially the patterns that can leave you feeling stuck in your thoughts, caught in cycles of fear and uncertainty, or responding to life in ways that no longer serve you.
Maybe your mind won’t stop analyzing. You replay conversations, question your decisions, or feel driven to find certainty before you can move on. Maybe anxiety leads you to avoid things you want to be able to do. Or perhaps past experiences still show up in your body, relationships, or reactions—even when part of you knows you’re safe now.
Therapy can be a place to understand these patterns without becoming more consumed by them.
I believe effective therapy involves both understanding and movement. You deserve space to feel heard and make sense of what you’re experiencing—but therapy should also help you practice responding differently when anxiety, intrusive thoughts, uncertainty, or old protective patterns show up.
EVIDENCE-BASED PRACTICE
My approach draws from evidence-based treatments including Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and trauma-informed therapy. Rather than forcing you into one model, I thoughtfully integrate these approaches based on what you’re experiencing and where you want to go.
For OCD and anxiety, that often means learning to step out of cycles of avoidance, reassurance, checking, rumination, and the exhausting pursuit of certainty. For trauma, it means understanding protective responses while building greater flexibility so the past doesn’t have to keep directing the present.
For clients who want their Christian faith to be part of therapy, I also offer Christian counseling grounded in a biblical worldview, thoughtfully integrated with clinically sound treatment.
My goal isn’t to help you eliminate every uncomfortable thought or feeling. It’s to help you become less controlled by them—so you have more freedom to be present, make intentional choices, connect with what matters, and move toward a meaningful life.
You don’t have to have everything figured out before you begin.
YOUR THERAPEUTIC JOURNEY
Click. Sway. Flourish.
Notice what's happening. Choose how you respond. Move toward what matters.
Therapy isn't a straight line, but these three ideas can help guide our work together. For those who desire it, faith can be woven into each part of the journey.
CLICK
A virtual click. A mental shift.
What is happening?
Sometimes therapy brings a different kind of click—a moment when something begins to make sense, a pattern comes into focus, or you see yourself or your experience in a new way.
Together, we'll notice the thoughts, emotions, patterns, beliefs, and experiences shaping how you feel and respond. When faith is part of the work, this may also include exploring how your beliefs, identity, and relationship with God intersect with what you're experiencing.
SWAY
Greater flexibility. Intentional response.
How can I respond?
Life doesn't always move in predictable ways, and we can't control every thought, feeling, circumstance, or outcome. Sway is about developing the flexibility to make room for difficult experiences without allowing them to determine what you do next.
Together, we'll work on responding rather than reacting, navigating what you cannot control, and making choices with greater intention. Faith integration may also include exploring trust, surrender, discernment, and faithful action in the midst of uncertainty.
FLOURISH
Personal growth. Meaningful living.
How do I want to live?
Flourishing isn't about having a perfect life or being free from hardship. It's about continuing to grow, connect, and live meaningfully—even through difficult seasons.
Together, we'll explore what matters most to you and how you want to live in your relationships, choices, values, and purpose. From a Christian perspective, flourishing can include becoming more deeply rooted in God and living more fully into who He created you to be.
PAYMENT OPTIONS
I offer private-pay sessions and accept insurance through select platforms. If you’re unsure which option fits best, I’ll help you figure it out during a brief consultation.
